School Pictures: Picture days are typically in October and April. Spring pictures are more casually posed than the more formal Fall pictures and proceeds benefit the PTA. Order forms will come home, but you can also order online at: https://inter-state.com/shop.
Parents Teachers conference.
Parent-Teacher conferences October 26th 4-8p.m. and October 27th 8-12a.m. Sign up forms will come home. If you have not received a time slot for your student(s), please contact you child's teacher to arrange a time. Parent-teacher conferences are a great opportunity to learn how your student is doing and to ask questions! The PTA provides teachers with dinner both nights of conferences. Movie Night: students and their families are invited to watch a family friendly movie in the Thomas Paine gym. Movie will be voted on by the students and is still to be determined. Bring your pillows, PJ's, and sleeping bags and settle in for an evening of entertainment complete with popcorn, pizza, and drinks (available for purchase).
Veteran's Day Assembly:
Thomas Paine is celebrating Veteran's Day with an all school assembly. Students can invite a veteran and/or parents. Students are encouraged to wear uniforms as appropriate, such as Boy Scout or Girl Scout uniforms. There will be singing and more!
Talent Show: All students must have a signed permission form! Students are limited to two acts total (solo or group). All students that want to participate are accepted, but all must audition. Mrs. Wyatt will work with students to make sure acts are appropriate. Rehearsals are held after school and the performance will be in the evening.
Carnival Night: join us for fun-filled themed night of games, activities, raffle, and silent auction! The PTA decorates the school and sets up exciting games and activities for the kids, led by teachers and UI sororities and fraternities. The silent auction features gift certificates and items from local businesses including spas and salons, birthday party packages, restaurants, and more! The raffle includes grade level theme baskets such as game night, movie night, and arts and crafts, as well as exciting events like a ride home in a fire truck or police car and a day with Ms. Cooper! Tickets and food available for purchase.
Fun and Field Day: at the end of Spirit Week, students enjoy games and activities outside. The PTA provides water bottles and fun activities such as inflatable slides and bounce houses.
Fall & Spring
Restaurant Socials/Fundraisers: many local restaurants such as El Toro, Monicals, AppleBees, Chilis, and Hickory Rivers offer fundraising specials. The PTA sets up a day with a specific restaurant for our school and distributes fliers. Simply bring the flier into the restaurant on the day, make a food purchase, and a certain percent (usually around 20%) of the purchase will be donated to Thomas Paine. This is a fun way to have a night out with the family, meet other Thomas Paine families, and raise money for our school!
