Kristi Gresch
Kristi and her husband Aaron have two children at Thomas Paine in the 3rd and 5th grades. She served for two years as PTA secretary and now as vice president. In addition to serving on the PTA Board, she has enjoyed volunteering in each of her children's classrooms at Thomas Paine. She wanted to be a part of the Thomas Paine PTA because she believes that schools strongly depend on family support to be successful. Education is a priority in her life and she wants to do as much as she can to make Thomas Paine stand out in Urbana.

Laura Lyon

Laura and her husband, Chris, have 2 sons at Thomas Paine School, one 5th grader and one 2nd grader. She has lived in Urbana since 2001, and has been involved with Thomas Paine PTA since her first son was a kindergartner, serving as secretary and then in various capacities helping with all the wonderful events through the PTA and directly in the children’s classrooms and PBIS assemblies. Knowing that parents and families are critical to a child’s, and a school’s, success, she wants to do everything she can to support the teachers, students, and staff at this terrific elementary school.

Treasurer: the treasurer handles the PTA's bank account, depositing money and writing checks as needed, keeping track of all financial interactions, creating an annual budget and maintaining a ledger, filing any necessary IRS forms, and compiling monthly financial reports as well as the end of year report.

Susan Coppess
Susan and her husband Jonathan have a daughter at Thomas Paine and a son who is in preschool. This is her first year serving as PTA treasurer. She and her family moved to Urbana in 2013. Since then she has enjoyed volunteering at Thomas Paine, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and Sola Gratia farm. These experiences have been a great way for her and her family to become part of this community.

Jason and I have two kids at Thomas Paine. Ethan is in fourth grade and Sadie is in first grade. I have been involved with PTA since Ethan was in kindergarten, helping with the Applebee's Pancake fundraiser, and serving as Hospitality coordinator last year. I am excited to continue to support Thomas Paine as PTA Secretary this year because I strongly believe the school needs parents to be involved.

Other Positions
Hospitality: the hospitality coordinator is not an elected position, but a volunteer that commits to the position for the year. The hospitality coordinator organizes and oversees the Spirit Week activities, Parent-Teacher conference dinners, and Teacher Appreciation Week activities and gifts.
